Why you should and shouldn’t report your Uber/Lyft driver
Reasons why you should
If you experience any of these issues as a rider, we recommend reporting it to Uber or Lyft. We understand you may not want to see a driver deactivated, but if their vehicle is unsafe or they are an unsafe driver, they need to be removed from the platform before someone gets hurt.

1. Unsafe Car
If your driver doesn’t have working seatbelts, or you should see anything else that you think could be a safety issue, I highly recommend you report them. Don’t put the safety of yourself or other riders in jeopardy
2. Reckless Driving
If your driver is excessively speeding or swerving in and out of traffic, then you need to report them
3. Inappropriate Touching Or Flirting
If a driver is talking or touching you in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, report them. If they continue after you tell them to stop, call 911 and ask the driver to pull over and let you out.
Reasons Why You Shouldn’t
Don’t be one of those riders who falsely accuses their driver because you didn’t get your way. A driver’s responsibility is simply to get you from point A to point B. Some drivers may have no problem taking you to get food or making a quick stop at the liquor store. However, they are not required to do so unless you have multiple stops and that is one of the designated stops on your trip.
Also, note that every driver has their own rules. Some may be okay with you smoking, eating, or drinking in their car, while others may not.

1. Driver Won’t Make An Extra Stop So You Can Get Food
Drivers are not required to make unscheduled stops along the way to your destination. If you need to make a stop, please set multiple stops in the app before sending the request. Unfortunately, riders sometimes report drivers for simply refusing an unplanned stop.
2. Won’t Allow You And Five Of Your Friends Cram Into Their Sedan
If you have more than four people with you, don’t be cheap. Order an Uber XL or Lyft XL that can fit up to six people, or order a second car. Don’t be mad at your driver for refusing to cram everyone into their car. If your driver gets into an accident, they are the ones who will face the consequences for overloading the vehicle.
3. Looking To Get A Free Ride
Don’t falsely accuse your driver just to get a free ride. It is wrong on so many levels. You are messing with someone’s livelihood just because you didn’t get your way, which is completely unfair.
