2 tips for riders requesting an Uber or Lyft to pick them up or drop them off at a military base
When requesting an Uber or Lyft to pick you up or drop you off at a military base, do not assume the driver knows the restrictions, which gate to use, or if they need a visitor’s pass. It is up to you, the rider, to make sure your driver is allowed to enter the installation after they accept your request.
Below are two different approaches riders can take when requesting pick-ups from or drop-offs to a military base.
- Once a driver has accepted a request, text them to ask if they have a pass to get on base. If they say no, cancel the ride. You have up to five minutes after a driver accepts to cancel without being charged.
- If a driver can’t get on base and you are okay with walking, ask them to pick you up or drop you off somewhere off the installation.
