How Does Turo Work for Host?
1. Listing Your Car
Listing a car on Turo requires hosts to provide the vehicles:
- License plate number.
- Make, model, and year.
- Vehicle Identification Number (or VIN), if applicable.
- Appearance in the form of at least one high-quality photo.
- Written description.
2. Pricing You Car
Hosts can either set their own price or use the Turo calculator to find a fair rental rate. The online tool will ask for the car’s make, model, year, and rental location.
3. Responding to Vehicle Requests
As a host, you will have between 30 minutes and eight hours to respond to a rental request. You can either approve or deny it based on the information provided by the potential renter. If you approve the request, it will be added to your schedule, and the car will become unavailable for that rental period.
4. Dropping Off the Car to Guests
On the first day of the rental, you will drop off the car at the agreed location. You can either leave the car there to be picked up remotely or meet the renter to deliver the keys.
Note: Hosts are able to set up a preferred pickup and drop-off location in their car’s listing.
5. Picking Up the Car From Guests
Once the rental period ends, you will meet the guest at the pick-up location to retrieve your vehicle.

Final Thoughts
While Turo offers an accessible micro-business model with low barriers to entry, it should not be confused with passive income. The platform manages marketing and payment processing, but sustainable success requires transitioning from a casual rental mindset to a formal hospitality and logistics operation.
